Harold Augustus Rowan

Harold Augustus Rowan, 84 of Owensboro, was called home to glory on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Heartford House of Hospice Western Kentucky in Owensboro. He was born on November 13, 1931 to the late Henry and Daisy Rowan.

He accepted Christ as his Savior on September 3, 1944 at New Hope Baptist Church in Pettit, Ky. He was a faithful member of Fourth Street Baptist Church. Harold enjoyed fishing, barbequing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He attended Western High School and later served in the U.S. Army. Employed at Texas Gas Transmission Corporation for 36 years, he supervised the Printing Department and Facility Maintenance. He also owned and operated, Man-A-Night Cleaning Service for 22 years. Prior to his illness, he was employed at Danhauer Drugs, as a delivery driver.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, four brothers, Everett, William, James, Leo and one sister, Anna Mae Wickliffe and a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Floyd.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olga Josephine Talbott Rowan and his seven children, Patricia (Perry) Daniels, Louisville, KY; Valerie L. Morton, Lexington, KY; Olga M. McKissic, Owensboro; Stephanie (Wayne) Wimsatt, Greencastle, IN; Verne (Cathy) Rowan, Louisville, KY; Jeanette C. Rowan, Bowling Green, KY; and John E. Rowan, St. Augustine, FL; a special daughter, Pamela (Eugene) Smith-Wright; one brother, Ellis Rowan, one sister, Thelma Bernice Wickliffe, 12 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren: 1 great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Expressions of sympathy may be donated to the Heartford House (Hospice) of Western Kentucky, H.L. Neblett Community Center, or Habitat for Humanity.

Funeral Services are at 11 am Saturday at Fourth Street Baptist Church. Entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by Ft. Campbell and VFW Post 696. Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm Friday and 9 to 10:45 am Saturday at the church. McFarland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.mcfarlandfh.com
