John E. Hatchett, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Golden Living Center-Brentwood in Evansville, IN. John was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Owensboro. He was the son of Edward and Mary Frances Hatchett. He was an Army and Air Force veteran and loved sharing his military stories. He received the Victory Medal in World War II and the Korean War, and other honors.
John is survived by a daughter, Carol Hatchett; a stepdaughter, Monique Moorman; granddaughters Diane Yvonne Hatchett and Yvette Tarver (Alonzo); grandsons Trent and Brent Hatchett; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and caregivers Geneva Baltzell and James "Tag" Kemp.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Kent Hite officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Visitation is after noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Special thanks to the Veteran's Clinic, Dr. Digavalli, Donna and Carver Day Care Staff.
Yvonne Hatchett has asked that we pray for their family during this time of sorrow. We are a family that believes in prayer and know that "Our Father" will provide comfort to them as He has promised in His word.
