Lee Chester Mae Crump, 95, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at home. She was born in Owensboro to the late Taylor and Laura Howell Dixon. She was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, Mothers Board and Willing Workers. She was a former member of the Green River District Association of Kentucky. Her husband, James Robert Crump; and two sons, Samuel Lee and William Ray Winstead, preceded her in death.
Survivors include five sons, James Winstead of Macon, Ga., Walter (Jaunita) Winstead of Owensboro, Wilbur (Sally) Winstead of Owensboro, Bruce Winstead of Owensboro and Lawrence Winstead of Las Vegas; three daughters, Bettye Burns, Gloria Horne and Sara (Charles) Grundy, all of Owensboro; 51 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; six stepsons, James Crump Jr., Lee Crump, the Rev. Harold Crump, Bruce Crump, the Rev. Barry Crump and Dale Crump; a stepdaughter, Azalene Madison; several stepgrandchildren; and two faithful and dedicated caregivers, Teresa Hall and Anthony Howard.
Mrs. Crump was the oldest member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was a true worker ... a servant of the Lord. Her efforts helped the chruch grow and expand as a result of her labor and financial contributions. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. A loving person who will be remembered for her faith in God and belief that He still answers prayers. Those who know her and believe in Christ will see her again .... what a glorius day that will be.
