Samuel E. Kendall, 61, of Granger, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Owensboro to the late Joseph N. and Mary Lee Kendall. He retired from Owensboro City Hall as a courier. He was a member of New Horizon Outreach Ministries in South Bend, Indiana. Samuel was a graduate of Owensboro High School, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He graduated from Paducah Technical College. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Kendall; and two brothers, Herbert D. Kendall and Joseph V. Kendall.

He leaves to cherish his memories and mourn his loss, his wife, Janice Kendall; one daughter, April Leak; four grandchildren; one brother, Charles E. Kendall; two sisters, Retha F. Leak and Theresia L. Smith; two stepsons, DeWayne Shemwell and Quan Shemwell; two stepdaughters, Tammy Taylor and Erica Taylor; and four stepgrandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial is in Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery, Owensboro. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. at the church. McFarland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
