
Norma Marie Moorman-Minion
1943-11-20 2025-05-04Mrs. Norma Marie Moorman-Minion, was born November 20, 1943 in Owensboro, KY to Thomas and Juanita (Pruitt) Moorman. (Note: Her father & brother, Thomas Moorman II & III are listed in our lineage book.). She attended Owensboro Public Schools.
Norma received her high school diploma from John Marshall High School and furthered her education at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, IN.
Norma married James Robert Williams and to that union three children were born, James, Larry and Natalie. She then married Theonolia Henry Dale and to that union two children were born, Jorja and Tamarra. Norma married, Rev. Lawrence Taylor in 1993. She later married, Walter Minion in 2004.
Norma was employed with the Pendleton Indiana State Correctional Facility for 16 years, where she became the First Black Female Sergeant. She concluded her career with Baptist Homes of Indiana where she was the Director of Dietary for Hoosier Village Retirement Communities for 14 years. She also served as Treasurer on the Dietary Board for the State of Indiana.
Norma gave her life to Christ at an early age (10 years old), where she joined the 4th Street Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY. Over the years, she had many church affiliations, Greater St. James, of Evansville, Indiana, Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and her final church home, here at All Friends Missionary Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN.
Norma was a member of several auxiliaries, including, the Mother's Board, the Missionaries, the Youth Outreach Ministry sponsor, and co-founder of Helping Hand's Outreach Ministry.
Norma was loving, caring and opened her home to many. She provided clothes, meals and a place for many to lay their heads. She enjoyed cooking and nurturing young people. Norma was stern and ruled with an iron fist, but was loving. She made you walk the walk and talk the talk. Being the matriarch of her family, she did not allow any disrespect. Everyone loved her and her passion for life.
Mrs. Norma Marie Moorman-Minion, departed this life on Sunday, May 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Juanita Moorman, Sister, Laverne M. Moorman, Brother, Thomas Moorman III, sons, James Thomas Williams and Larry Dorrell Williams. Daughter, Jorja Helena Dale, Son-in-Law, Michael C. Williams Sr., Goddaughter, Gloria E. Twitty, Grandson, Michael C. Williams Jr., Great Grandchildren, Damoni Troutman, Legacii Troutman and Lyric Washington. She leaves to cherish her memory, Daughters, Natalie L. Williams and Tamarra Coleman (Ronald), Special Son, Theonolia Dale (Sharon), Special Daughter, Charlotte Brown, Grandchildren, Meinyana Johnson (Robert), Tamea Wickware (Collin), Dominique Troutman (Tiara), Marquise Dale Sr., Donahvon Troutman, Damon Dale Sr., Larry D. Williams Jr., Adarien Dale Sr., (Quesha), Janee' Dokes (Joshua), Michael Clark (Diamond), Richard Sansbury, Racheal Cothern (Darrell), Brooke Williams, Bradley New, Aunt Magalean Leachman, Sisters, Carolyn Robinson, Benita Miller (Dudley), Jacqueline Dickerson (Anthony), Brother, Larry E. Moorman and a host of Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends to whom she loved and adored.
A visitation for Norma will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at All Friends Missionary Baptist Church, 2740 W Kessler Blvd N Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46222, Indianapolis, IN, followed by a home going service at 12:00 PM.
